This video was created to teach programming librarians, tweens, teens, and any interested patron how to create a birdhouse using a discarded or weeded book. This craft was created to be a part of the Patrick Air Force Base’s ongoing Upcycle Crafts program, which takes weeded or donated books that would be bound for the garbage and instead creates craft and art projects. The Upcycle Crafts program fulfills not only the need to find a purpose for an overflow of donated books, but it also promotes environmental responsibility. The materials needed for this craft include a book, bone folder or straight-edged tool, and any additional decorative elements that would enhance the overall aesthetic. The skill level needed for this project is a beginner level, and patrons from age eight years old to adults have enjoyed completing this project.

How to Make a dragon's egg
This video was created to teach teen librarians, teens, and any patrons interested in how to create a dragon’s egg using a cardboard egg, a pencil, hot glue, and acrylic paint. This dragon egg was used as part of the Patrick Air Force Base’s ongoing Cosplay Class program. Before beginning the craft, a discussion took place of the literary significance of dragon’s eggs in literature. Books such as the Harry Potter series, Game of Thrones, and How To Train Your Dragon were used as examples of literature that contained dragon’s eggs. The skill level needed for this craft is a beginner level. However, children younger than nine years old should not participate without supervision as a hot glue gun is required to use.
